Focus and Scope

The biannual Polish Journal of Economic Psychology aims to present the latest concepts and research results in the areas where economic and psychological theories overlap. For many years, this has been a rapidly growing trend in the social sciences and a new area of research. The purpose of Polish Journal of Economic Psychology is to be a platform for exchanging thoughts and innovative ideas in the field of psychology, explaining the mechanisms of economic behavior (psychology of money, work psychology, consumer behavior, and entrepreneurship), behavioral finance, and experimental economics. The problems of Polish Journal of Economic Psychology are very important, especially in the context of the events related to the crisis in the financial markets, where psychological factors are often implicated as causes of the crisis.

This periodical substantially supports the integration of the academic fields of psychology and economics. Thereby, it enables the development of this highly dynamic and interdisciplinary research area in Poland. One of our goals is also to popularize research among practitioners, mainly in companies in the financial sector.

This magazine is an initiative of the Academic Association of Economic Psychology, Department of Financial Markets at the University of Economics in Krakow, and the Foundation of the University of Economics in Krakow.

Peer Review Process

GENERAL INFORMATION
The semi-annual journal Psychologia Ekonomiczna [Economic Psychology] is the organ of Akademickiego Stowarzyszenia Psychologii Ekonomicznej (ASPE) [Academic Association of Economic Psychology]. This periodical covers broader issues of economic psychology, by which we mean articles in the fields of behavioral finance, experimental economics, psychology of money, work psychology, consumer behavior, and entrepreneurship. We also publish work on the borderline of different disciplines dealing with human economic behavior, such as marketing, neuroeconomics, psychology of decision-making, social psychology, cognitive psychology, and sociology.
We publish original empirical articles, theoretical and practical, presentations of original tools of economic psychology (adapted and original research techniques), short reports of research, commentaries, and reviews of important books in the field of economic psychology and related fields - both scientific and popular. Selected issues of the magazine have a monographic character, in which case the issue is edited by a guest editor.
The size of articles submitted for print should not exceed 40,000 characters including spaces. At the same time, we recommend that articles consist of at least 14,400 characters. In justified cases (e. g., a series of several studies), editors can accept a text of larger volume (up to 80,000 characters).
Each article is evaluated by two anonymous reviewers and the final publication decision is made by the editor assigned to the item. Personal data are not transferred to the reviewers; likewise the names of reviewers will not be revealed to the author (authors).

Open Access Policy

The biannual Polish Journal of Economic Psychology has been published in the Open Access model. All papers are available on the basis of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Poland Licence.

Against Ghostwriting

Academic integrity is a foundation of quality scholarship. Readers should be certain that the authors of publications present the results of their work in keeping with the standards of transparency, solidity and honesty, whether they refer to their own findings or whether they use the work of a specialised agent (a person or a corporate body).

Scholarly ethics as well as the highest editorial standards require strict transparency of information about all persons and institutions that have contributed to the publication (to its ideas, content, production or funding, etc.). Providing complete information of this kind is not only a manifestation of good academic practice but also a proof of social responsibility.

So-called „ghostwriting” and „guest authorship” are practices that violate this principle.

„Ghostwriting” takes place if a person has substantially contributed to a publication, but his/her participation as a co-author is not revealed or his/her role is not acknowledged in the acknowledgements included in the publication.

„Guest authorship” („honorary authorship”) takes place if an author’s/co-author’s contribution to a publication has been scant or none at all, and yet she/he is listed as the publication’s author or co-author. 

In order to counteract „ghostwriting”and „guest authorship,” the journal’s Editorial Board has introduced the following principles:

1.  The Authors are obliged to reveal the particular authors’ contribution to the publication (providing their affiliation and specifying the nature of their contributions, i.e. information on who is the author of concepts, tenets, methods, protocols, etc. used in the paper). The chief accountability for these issues lies with the author who submits the manuscript. 
2. The Authors are obliged to provide the financial disclosure, i.e. to report the sources of financing the publication and contributions of academic research institutions, associations and other bodies. 
3. Information specified in points 1 and 2 should be provided in the declaration enclosed to the paper.
4. The Editorial Board will document all instances of scholarly unconscientiousness and dishonesty, and in particular the cases of violating and infringing on the principles of scholarly ethics.

We wish to emphasise that „ghostwriting" and „guest authorship" are manifestations of scholarly unconscientiousness and dishonesty. All discovered cases thereof shall be exposed and appropriate bodies and authorities shall be notified of them.
